Louisiana man sentenced in 2012 Habersham murder Gordon, Georgia
CLARKESVILLE – A Louisiana man pleaded guilty to murder Thursday afternoon in Habersham County Superior Court. Frank Joseph Guitreau Jr., 31, surrounded by more than a half dozen sheriff’s deputies, entered the plea before Judge Chan Caudell in a proceeding shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Athens man high on NyQuil threatens family with gun Georgia
An Athens man was apparently high on NyQuil early Friday morning when he scared family members by allegedly waving around a loaded gun, Athens-Clarke police said. Tacarus Maurice Favors' frightened niece hid in a closet to call 911 about 1:30 a.m.

Two bikers killed in Athens wrecks within two days Georgia
