MARATHON CITY, Wis. — Marathon County authorities say an 11-year-old boy has accidentally shot his father while hunting. Sheriff's Lt. Randy Albert tells Stevens Point Journal Media that the boy mistook his father for a turkey on Sunday and shot him in the upper left area of his chest.

Dance Marathon jumps into action

Last year when the University of Iowa’s Dance Marathon 24-hour Big Event kicked off, the 14-year-old from Jesup, was at UI’s Children’s Hospital receiving treatment for Ewing’s sarcoma — a rare disease in which cancer cells are found in the bone or in soft tissue. Her treatments ended in November. So, Friday night, Moore was ready to dance.
